The Longest Journey / Dreamfall
anyone play(/ed) The Longest Journey or the sequel Dreamfall?
I've played both, completed Dreamfall a few months ago. I love both stories, and I was wondering if there's anyone else in here who share my fandom?

You know they're releasing a third one, completing the planned triology <3
I can't wait!
Here's a trailer for Dreamfall, for anyone who's interested:

EDIT: here's the main theme, performed at a concert I was at. You just have to hear it, it's sooo touching...

You made me curious. The soundtrack was beautiful (am still loading the trailer, grr). Going to download the trial and see if I have found a new addiction

yay!
Hope you like it. Dreamfall usually gains two types of peers; the fans who love the game (and I mean seriously LOVE it) and those who play it for an hour and decide it's boring cus they don't understand anything.
Anyway, play it for the storyline, and if there are things you don't get, look it up on a forum/the website. It's just too good a story to give up on :3

A friend of mine also recommended trying the demo. But it takes an awful lot of time to download (8 hours :S), so ill have to do that on some day I dont have anything better to do. (I hate leaving my pc on at night)

I never played any of these games, I'm a fan of unique fantasy type settings especially in trilogy form. Maybe one day I'll try em out.

I got part way through dreamfall, then my PC died and I haven't bothered to restart it. Overall I was disappointed that April Ryan wasn't the star of the show. Zoe is okay, but not the same. Other than that, it wasn't too bad.

I finished the first one a loooong time ago and I loved it. It's a shame adventure games are so rare now. Will check this one out.

Played both and loved both. Sadly I have Vista x64 installed now - not a hope in hell with that protection/malware shit that it uses :/

I've started both but never got around to finishing them. I think what happened was that I almost finished Dreamfall (my sis (who finished both games), says I just had a bit to go), and then I got into exams nad couldn't play for ages, and forgot what was happening. TLJ was fun, though I haven't played it in ages.

Both games are very rich in story & as an experience. There aren't too many really enjoyable adventure games released these days.

I agree. Though Zoe still wasn't the main character, in a way. She has been described as simply a "plot tool", to get April back on track, and
to "get rid of" Faith's interruption in the Wire, and the Balance.
She may just be the first main-character/narrative I ever came across who -in a way- doesn't play a major part in "saving the world" etc.
She's more of a victim of the events, one who didn't really want to get involved but didn't have a choice.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump. Recently re-installed it and started playing it together with my gf, and we both absolutely loved it. The story is magnificent and the voice acting...wow! Too bad it ended so abruptly but Dreamfall: Chapters has been officially announced, and now that Age of Conan is done, they should have started working on it!
Can't wait

I played both. Syberia 1/2, Dreamfall, TLJ and Riven/Myst are my favorites in the genre.

You don't need to have played the The Longest Journey ( the first one ) to get into or understand the story of Dreamfall, it's really easy to get into it. The first 2 chapters are fun, but after you're out of the rainy city, the game really begins. Definitely a game you should buy if you like good mysterious storyline

Just remember folks - Dreamfall uses Starforce anti-piracy software. Also known as "did I really just agree to install a rootkit on my PC?"
Tales of shattered CDs may or may not be exaggerated.
